Roma have warned Real Madrid to keep their hands of Mirko Vucinic after reports linked the Spanish side to the Montenegran striker.

Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury and Bernd Schuster`s side were hoping that Vucinic would be the man to replace him.

Eight Lazio fans have been arrested ahead of the Rome derby against AS Roma on Sunday night, Italian news agency Ansa reported.

The fans were arrested for throwing objects at police while 15 members of the police force were also injured in the clashes. Among the Lazio fans arrested was a German from Munich.

SOFIA, Aug 14, 2007 (AFP) - Four people were injured and four arrested after a large group of Romas attacked customers at a cafe in a district of Sofia, the Bulgarian Interior Ministry said Tuesday.

Some 200 Roma descended on the cafe on Monday evening in a predominantly gypsy-populated neighbourhood of the capital, beating four clients and breaking tables and chairs, the ministry said.

'The Roma were seeking revenge for an incident on Sunday,' a city official, Vassil Karaivanov, told national radio.

BUCAREST, July 31, 2007 (AFP) - Some 80 Serbian gypsies have illegally entered Romania and are seeking asylum, officials said Tuesday.

The last of the group to enter the country were a couple and their four children aged between 11 and 17 who crossed the border on Tuesday morning, police said.

'The Serbians say they are gypsies and have come to seek asylum in Romania bacuse of the difficulties they face in their villages,' said Catalin Necula, the commissioner of the national refugee agency.

ROME, July 27, 2007 (AFP) - Romanian international defender Cristian Chivu finally completed his 13-million euro move from Rome to Inter Milan on Friday, bringing to an end the most protracted transfer saga in Serie A this summer.

In addition to the money, Roma also received half ownership of Inter's Italy under-21 international Marco Andreolli.

Chivu, 26, gave an emotional farewell at a press conference at Roma's Trigoria training ground.

'I've spent four wonderful years here, full of satisfaction,' said the versatile defender.

ROME, July 25, 2007 (AFP) - Cristian Chivu`s protracted transfer saga appears to be almost over with the Romanian international close to completing a move from Roma to Serie A rivals Inter Milan, his agent said on Thursday.

'Chivu is in Rome and he could be in Milan by tomorrow,' Giovanni Becali was quoted as saying by Italian news agency ANSA.

Becali confirmed that Chivu would not be appearing at Roma`s 80th anniversary celebrations at the Olympic stadium later Thursday.
