KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10, 2007 (AFP) - Norwegian Telecommunication group Telenor will cut its stake in Malaysian mobile operator Digi.Com Bhd to 49 percent from 61 percent by the end of the year, a top minister said Monday.
'They are committed to draw down their stake to 49 percent by the end of this year,' Lim Keng Yaik, energy, water and communications minister told reporters.
Lim had earlier met with top executives of Telenor to secure the confirmation. Telenor was allowed to raise its stake in DiGi.com to 61 percent in 2001.
OSLO, July 24, 2007 (AFP) - The Norwegian telecommunications giant Telenor reported on Tuesday improved second-quarter results but they fell short of market expectations.
The quarterly figures did not include a contribution from Ukrainian company Kievstar, which the Norwegian firm was recently forced to deconsolidate from its overall group accounts owing to an ongoing dispute with a big Russian shareholder.
Net profit increased by 42.4 percent to 3.25 billion kronor (411.4 million euros) against 2.28 billion in the same quarter last year.
