ATHENS, May 9, 2008 (AFP) - The 100-metre world silver medal stripped from disgraced US athlete Marion Jones has arrived in Athens to be handed to Greek sprinter Katerina Thanou, the Greek athletics federation (SEGAS) said Friday.

'We have informed Ms Thanou that the medal is here,' SEGAS chairman Vassilis Sevastis told AFP.

PARIS, Oct 8, 2007 (AFP) - Greek sprinter Ekaterini Thanou, involved in a doping controversy ahead of the 2004 Olympics, could retrospectively take the 100m gold medal for the Sydney 2000 Olympics after the winner, American sprinter Marion Jones, admitted to doping.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) said Monday it is awaiting the decision of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) before deciding on whether to strip Jones of her five Sydney 2000 Olympic medals.

ATHENS, Sept 24, 2007 (AFP) - A Greek court on Monday deferred until June 19 the perjury trial of Greek sprinters Costas Kenteris and Katerina Thanou over a mysterious motorcycle accident which led them to miss doping tests on the eve of the Athens 2004 Olympics, a justice source said.

Kenteris and Thanou caused one of the biggest doping scandals of the 2004 Olympics after missing tests at the Olympic Village on the eve of the Games.
