ATHENS, Oct 18, 2007 (AFP) - The telecoms regulator on Thursday fined the Greek unit of British mobile giant Vodafone 19.1 million euros (27 million dollars) for violating network regulations in a wire-tapping scandal that rocked the country last year.
The fine is the second handed to Vodafone Hellas over the case after a 76-million-euro penalty levelled by Greece's communication privacy watchdog last December.
MADRID, Oct 15, 2007 (AFP) - Spain's competition authority opened a probe Monday into mobile telephone operators Movistar, Orange and Vodafone on suspicion they had reached an agreement to raise their fees, consumer rights group OCU said.
The probe by the CNC authority will look into a 'presumed infraction of rules defending competition through the coordinated increase of telephone rates on March 1,' the consumer group said in a statement.

The move to rename its new Indian cellular unit will involve one of the world's biggest-ever rebranding campaigns, the official said.
LONDON, Aug 8, 2007 (AFP) - Vodafone, the British mobile phone giant, said Wednesday it had decided against exercising an option to sell part of its stake in US mobile operator Verizon Wireless to Verizon Communications.
In a statement, Vodafone said it continued to believe that retaining its full 45-percent interest in Verizon Wireless was in the best interests of shareholders. Verizon Communications owns 55 percent of Verizon Wireless.
