Lagos, Nigeria (Haaba) - Nigerian authorities have arrested and deported Somalia terror suspect Mohamed Ibrahim Ahmed. Ahmed is set to become the latest alleged terrorist to be tried in New York. US prosecutors say Mr Ahmed learned how to make bombs from the Islamist militant group Al-Shabab. US prosecutors say Ahmed is believed to be a citizen of the tiny East African country of Eritrea, who lived in Sweden.

Some 5,000 Eritreans from around Europe rallied on Monday in front of the United Nations European headquarters in Geneva to protest against UN Security Council sanctions on Eritrea, police said. The demonstrators waved Eritrean flags and carried banners such as "No to sanctions based on lies," and "Eritrea will never go on its knees".

An Eritrean opposition group told AFP on Tuesday it was "prepared to launch attacks" on government troops after the United Nations last week imposed tough sanctions on Asmara.
