US slams rising anti-semitism worldwide

The investigation into the gender of women's 800m world champion Caster Semenya is still ongoing, world athletics governing body said Wednesday. The 19-year-old South African dominated the 800m event in the world championships last August in Berlin, sauntering home to take the title despite coming into the event a virtual unknown.

Disgraced athletics star Marion Jones, stripped of five medals from the 2000 Sydney Olympics, has signed to play for the Tulsa Shock of the Women's NBA, the club announced Wednesday. Jones admitted in 2007 that she took the once-undetectable designer steroid THG that was at the heart of the BALCO steroid scandal, using it to help her win three gold medals and two bronze medals she was later forced to return.

American Meb Keflezighi said Wednesday that a sore left knee will keep him from running in the New York Half-Marathon, what would have been his first race since winning the 2009 New York Marathon. Keflezighi has not raced since last November, when he became the first US man to win at New York since Alberto Salazar in 1982, but he called off his New York Half-Marathon bid on March 21 to prepare for next month's Boston Marathon.

Ivory Williams, who won the US men's 60-meter indoor title last month, is out of the World Indoor Athletics Championships after being given a three-month doping suspension on Wednesday. Williams, who also won the 60m crown at the Millrose Games in January, was among the 60m favorites at the Worlds, which begin Friday at Doha, Qatar.
